Federal Immigration Programs
General Requirements
Applicants must meet all the minimum program requirements in order to be eligible.
1. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Have at least 12 months (non-continuous allowed) of full-time or equivalent paid work experience (NOC 0, A, or B) in the last 3 years before application
- Have gained experience legally in Canada (after graduation in case of a student)
- Work experience gained in Quebec counts but cannot be self-employment or while waiting for a refugee decision
- CLB 7 for NOC 0, A occupations and CLB 5 for NOC B occupations
- No need to prove settlement funds
2. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Have at least 1 continuous year of full time (1560 total hours or 30 hours/week or equivalent in part-time) paid work experience in the same job within the last 10 years in a NOC 0, A or B occupation
- Canadian secondary or post secondary degree or equivalent foreign credential with an ECA
- CLB 7 in all 4 language skills
- Score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 points on the 6 selection factors (age, education, work experience, job offer, language skills, adaptability)
- Proof of funds for applicant and accompanying family
3. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Have 2 years of full-time (or equivalent in part-time) work experience (non-continuous allowed)in an eligible skilled trade within the last 5 years
- Meet language requirements: CLB 5 for speaking and listening; CLB 4 for reading and writing
- Meet all job requirements according to the NOC (except for provincial certificate).
- Have a job offer (LMIA approved) of full-time employment from up to 2 employers for at least 1 year OR, a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority
Eligible FSTP occupations:
- NOC Group 72: Industrial, electrical and construction trades
- NOC Group 73: Maintenance and equipment operation trades
- NOC Group 82: Supervisors and technical occupations in natural resources, agriculture and related production
- NOC Group 92: Processing, manufacturing and utilities
- NOC Groups 632 and 633: Chefs, cooks, butchers and bakers
