2 Key Notes:
- It's important to prove that the spousal relationship is genuine.
- Applicants must declare all family members when applying for permanent residence.
A non-accompanying dependent child who was not declared or examined would not be eligible to be sponsored by the applicant in the future as a member of the family class because they would be deemed to be excluded.
- Misrepresentation of a material fact may result in the applicant being inadmissible.
- A person who became a permanent resident after being sponsored as a spouse or partner may not sponsor a new spouse or partner within 5 years of becoming a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.
- Length of the undertaking is 3 years from the day the sponsored spouse or partner becomes a permanent resident. The sponsor may not sponsor a new spouse or partner until 3 years after the previously sponsored spouse or partner became a permanent resident.
